On the 21st November 2002, 47 sports physiotherapists gathered in Magglingen and formed the Swiss Sports Physiotherapy Association (SVSP). The SVSP, a non-profit organisation, now has about 400 qualified physiotherapists who are specialised or work in the area of sport physiotherapy. Since 2004, the SVSP is supported by the Swiss Association of Physiotherapy (SPV),
and is recognised as an expert groupd and is a member of the International Federation of Sports Physical Therapy (IFSPT) which is part of the World Confederation of Physical Therapy (WCPT). The SVSP represents the interests of its members towards the SPV, and maintains contact with the Swiss Olympic Association, with sports governing bodies in Switzerland and abroad, as well as with sports medical partners.
